Cultural and Environmental Explorations in "People of the Peninsula"

On Friday, February 9th, at #ConservaLoreto, our special event titled "People of the Peninsula: Cultural and Environmental Explorations of BCS" took place.

This event was led by Dr. Shane Mcfarlan, who has dedicated the past ten years to developing a multidisciplinary research program on the Baja California peninsula.

Dr. Shane McFarlan's talk focused on his work on how human life has developed in this hot and arid region, surrounded by more than 2,000 miles of coastline, obtaining its water resources from desert springs and seasonal rains. These geographic characteristics and limitations mentioned by the researcher have impacted human population dynamics and cultural processes over the last hundreds of years.

We would like to extend our sincerest gratitude to the Loreto City Council, Crealifornia, the Museum of the Missions, Casa de la Cultura, and The Ocean Foundation for their invaluable support and collaboration, without which this event would not have been possible.

"People of the Peninsula" has been an enriching experience that has not only advanced scientific knowledge of the region but also strengthened community ties and commitment to the conservation of our natural heritage.

Thank you to all who participated in and supported this event!
