The Story Beneath Our Feet: Geology of Isla del Carmen

At Conserva Loreto, we had the opportunity to host an engaging talk on the geology of Isla del Carmen, led by Dr. Scott Bennett, where we explored the natural history that has shaped one of the most remarkable landscapes in the region.

During the session, we journeyed through millions of years of geological history to understand how the island was formed and the processes that have shaped it over time. It was a fascinating exploration that allowed us to see the territory from a new perspective, recognizing geology as the foundation of the ecosystems we know today.

Understanding the origin of our landscape is also a way of learning how to protect it.

Through this talk, we strengthened the connection between science and community, creating a space for learning, curiosity, and reflection on the natural processes that unfold over time.

We thank Dr. Scott Bennett for sharing his knowledge, and everyone who joined us in this meaningful experience of discovery and connection with one of Loreto’s natural treasures.
