With 2,149 observations and 506 species documented, Loreto achieved 6th place nationwide during the Urban Nature Challenge – Fall 2025, consolidating its position as one of the municipalities with the highest biodiversity records in Mexico.

After a long period of drought, the rains brought color and vitality back to our landscapes. This renewal not only transformed the vegetation but also opened the door to rediscovering local biodiversity. Throughout the challenge, we were able to observe plant species that are rarely seen and reconnect with a wide variety of wildlife that reappeared in full force.

Each observation served as a reminder that even a small amount of rainfall can reignite life: insects, reptiles, mammals, and birds became active once again, revealing the extraordinary biodiversity that makes Loreto such a unique place.

Beyond collecting data, this community effort celebrates our deep connection with the natural environment and reaffirms our shared commitment to understanding, valuing, and protecting it for future generations.
