At Conserva Loreto, we were pleased to welcome a group of students from Ventura College to our offices as part of the exchange between our two sister cities, Ventura, California, and Loreto, Baja California Sur.
During their visit, Dr. Sula Vanderplank, Executive Director of Conserva Loreto, gave a presentation on the biogeography, flora, and fauna of the Loreto region, introducing students to the extraordinary biological diversity of the Baja California Peninsula.
The experience continued in the field with an outing to San Javier, where students had the opportunity to experience firsthand the landscapes, plants, and ecosystems that characterize this region. The field trip complemented the knowledge shared during the presentation through direct observation of the area’s biodiversity and unique natural environment.
These types of encounters provide a valuable opportunity to share knowledge, experiences, and perspectives on nature conservation. At Conserva Loreto, we believe that environmental education and collaboration are essential tools for strengthening the connection between communities and their natural heritage.
We sincerely thank Ventura College for their visit and for their interest in learning about the biodiversity of Loreto. We look forward to continuing to build opportunities for collaboration and shared learning through the Ventura–Loreto Sister Cities program, strengthening the ties between our two communities through education, science, and conservation.
