We participated in the 2026 meeting of the Geological Society of America (GSA), an event that brings together specialists and researchers to share knowledge and advances in Earth sciences. For Conserva Loreto, it was an opportunity to present some of the work we are carrying out in Baja California Sur and to highlight the extraordinary natural and geological diversity of our region.
During the meeting, we presented two informative posters highlighting the close relationship between geological processes and biodiversity:
Unique soils and plant endemism associated with the San Juan de Los Planes Fault, a system with geothermal alteration that creates particular conditions for the development of plant communities and endemic species.
Lithified thrombolites in the municipality of Loreto, formations that provide insight into the interaction between geological and biological processes over time.
Our participation also included an exhibition table, where we shared products and handicrafts made by our friends from Paso de Santa Cruz, creating a space to highlight local work and promote the value of locally made products.
These gatherings allow us to share research, strengthen collaborations, and increase understanding of the natural processes that make Baja California Sur such a unique region.
